180 Medical Honors Urology Nurses and Associates Week

by Jessica November 3 2015 18:19
Urology Nurses and Associates Week has begun as of this Monday, and we like to take time each year to emphasize the importance of this week. We issued a press release earlier to highlight our enthusiasm for this celebration of nurses and medical professional who work so hard to provide the care needed for their patients.
Happy Urology Nurses and Associates Week from 180 Medical
180 medical representativeEach year, Urology Nurses and Associates Week takes place in the first week of November, dedicated specifically to the nurses, nurses' assistants, and other healthcare workers that have chosen the field of urology. Each of them serves a crucial role within the healthcare system. Some work primarily in continence care, providing the education and support our customers' need to live their lives as normally as possible. Others act in roles within oncology, surgery, cystoscopy, urodynamics, and more. No matter where they work and the position they serve, they provide a necessary role that is integral to their patients' well-being.

As providers of intermittent catheters and other urological supplies, we interact with urology nurses daily, taking time to understand what is needed for their patients. We're grateful to all urology nurses, associates, and doctors for choosing 180 Medical to provide their patients with their needed catheter supplies along with top-notch customer service. Here are a few reasons why they choose us and consistently stick with us for patient referrals:

  • One-stop Referral Option: Nurses are busy, and convenience is one of the many reasons they choose 180 Medical for their patient referrals.
There's not a lot of time in their packed day to seek out a provider that can handle supply needs and is also contracted with that specific patient's insurance company. 180 Medical understands that nurses need a quick and efficient option to fill out a referral so that their patients can obtain the supplies they need. With 180 Medical, it's as simple as faxing or emailing the referral to us. From there, we work hard to process and verify the patient's insurance and call them within the same day during business hours. If we don't carry the supplies the patient needs, or if we happen to not be contracted with that patient's insurance, we personally handle finding and referring the patient to a company that can! This way, we make sure the patient can get their needed medical supplies, whether we end up supplying them or not.
  • Individualized Care: At 180 Medical, we understand that every situation is different. Each patient's needs are as unique as the individuals themselves. Our customer specialists will work hard to get the best product for each patient, while working with the urology nurse's recommendations. We also take time to educate patients on how best to use a catheter hygienically, even offering time to help them with a step-by-step walk-through of the process of catheterization. This helps the referring nurse or associate to lessen any follow-up needs on their part.
Urology Nurses and Associates Week was started to create awareness about the tireless effort that urology nurses perform, as well as the illnesses and conditions that cause urological issues, including spinal cord injuries, spina bifida, multiple sclerosis, neurogenic bladder, and more. While many people may feel some fear or concern after being told they will need to use catheters, whether short-term or permanently, urology nurses help by offering solutions that will allow the patient to feel comfortable with their daily routines including self-catheterization and other options. They not only teach them how to function as normally as possible once again; they provide the physical and emotional support that is often needed in these situations. Sometimes all it takes is a listening ear, other times it takes a guiding hand to show what is possible. Urology nurses have helped so many patients in so many situations, so it's impossible to describe all that they do and how they positively affect others' lives.

We are proud of being able to act as an extension of the compassionate care and service of all of the urology nurses, doctors, and associates at their facilities. We encourage our readers to promote this well-deserved week.

4 Things to Look For When You Need Female Catheters

by Jessica October 1 2015 17:53
Whether you have just been instructed to start using intermittent catheters or you’ve been using them for years, it’s understandably pretty tough to find the right female catheter supplier who meets all of your needs. There are many catheter suppliers out there making big claims about what they have to offer, but not all are equal in terms of giving you unparalleled service on all fronts. Here are some things to look for as you seek out the right company for your intermittent catheter supply needs.

1. Personalized, superior customer service.

Your time is valuable, and your medical needs should be a top priority to a supplier. Look for companies that deliver unparalleled customer service. Instead of long hold times or automated menus, a company that cares about your needs will deliver a quick response time from a live person when you call customer support or access live chat on their website.  When you speak with someone, you should be treated as more than just another number. Good supply companies will have knowledgeable representatives who really listen, understand your needs, and help find the right intermittent female catheter for you, based on your prescription, lifestyle, preferences and prior experiences.

2. Specialization in catheters.

180 medical 100 satisfaction guaranteeThere are lots of medical supply companies out there, but not all of them focus specifically on catheters. Companies that deal with all kinds of medical supplies may seem like a convenient option, but their brand and product availability may be limited, and their staff may not be very well-educated on what type of catheter might be best for your needs. 180 Medical, however, specializes only in intermittent catheters and ostomy products, so they carry all major brands and types, and their trained staff is educated about the product lines they offer and the advantages of each. With employees on staff who are also catheter-users, this particular company can provide firsthand guidance and information on purchasing and using catheters that other companies may not be able to do.

3. Direct Shipping.

Why inconvenience yourself by having to pick up supplies from a pharmacy or paying for shipping each time you order, when you can get your catheter supply delivered directly to your doorstep for free? This not only saves you time and money, it also protects your privacy. A good online female catheter outlet can ship the exact product you need quickly with no hassle.

4. They take care of the paperwork for you.

You’re already dealing with enough in your life. There’s no need to act as the middle man between your doctor’s office and your catheter supplier or have to figure out all the insurance paperwork for billing. Look for a company that can communicate directly with your physician for any needed documentation and bill your insurance for you.

180 Medical can do all this and more for you. Contact us today

This month, we're excited to feature Jamie, who works as a Confirmations Specialist at 180 Medical.

180 medical confirmations specialist employee spotlight

What do you do as a Confirmations Specialist?
As a Confirmations Specialist, I do many different tasks on a daily basis. My top priority is getting in touch with our customers to see if they are ready for their next order. Some of our other tasks include working on increased prescriptions, and obtaining documentation that lets us provide advanced products for our customers. I also work on prior authorizations, ABN renewals, and I am privileged to be one of the trainers for the department!

What do you love most about 180 Medical?
The positive environment. We just have the best people working together.  We are so team-oriented and strive to provide the best customer service.

180 Medical has many unique qualities, differing from our fundraising techniques to how we celebrate meeting our goals. I have had some of the most delectable treats since I have been a part of the 180 family! And who doesn’t like watching your fellow 180 Medical teammates get a pie in the face (it was for a good cause, I promise!)? Also, I love the laid back feel of the office since we are able to dress casually.

Anything you'd say to someone thinking about applying for a job here? 180 Medical Best Places To Work 2013
I would say DO IT! It will be one of the best decisions you'll ever make. I am so thankful every day for the relationships that I have made with our customers, as well as my teammates. The sweets and different treats are just an added bonus! I am actually excited to come into the office and see what the day holds in store. Not many people have the privilege of saying that and actually meaning it.

What's one of your favorite stories of how you helped a customer or a fellow employee here?
Being on the front lines and speaking with our customers every day, I have been able to hear many stories.

I called a customer one day, and before I could tell him who I was, he said, “I am so glad you caught me!” He went on to tell me that he had barely been at home between taking care of arranging two different funerals, but that he needed his supplies, so I confirmed his order. I told him that we extend our condolences to his loved ones and that if he needed anything, to just give me a call.

His next response brought tears to my eyes. He said that we aren’t just a company to him, but we are more like family. He let me know that we have always been there for him each month and had never let him down. It’s the little things like this that make me LOVE what I do.

What are some of your favorite things to do outside of work?
I love working on cars, playing softball and taking my two dogs to the lake. I also enjoy concerts and watching sports. I have lived in Oklahoma my whole life, so with that comes being an OU fan. Let’s face it, no one is better.

What's a favorite quote that keeps you inspired?
Neither success nor failures are an accident.

Thanks to Jamie, and all the Confirmations Specialists who play such an integral role in the company.

We Focus on Compassion.

We understand thatthese supplies are vital to maintain your desired quality of life, and we do everything within our power to make the whole process easier for you. So You've Been Told You Need to Start Using Catheters. Now What?

by Jessica March 31 2014 11:30
Change is not always easy. It's completely natural to feel some fear when your doctor tells you that you will need to use intermittent catheters going forward as part of your treatment plan.

We here at 180 Medical understand how daunting it can feel to be told that your life will be different going forward, whether due to injury, surgery, disease, or another diagnosis that requires the use of catheters.

Some of our employees and Todd Brown, 180 Medical CEO and foundereven our founder, Todd Brown, have experienced the transition to life in a wheelchair after a spinal cord injury. They understand what it's like to face new challenges after leaving the rehabilitation hospital and the long process of finding and adjusting to the use of various medical supplies specifically for their needs. They continue to use intermittent catheters (among other supplies) every single day, so these employees have a personal experience to share with you -- not just with the process of intermittent catheterization but also a true understanding of those initial feelings of concern over this new process that will be a part of your life, whether temporarily or long-term, depending upon your health professional's prescribed treatment plan.

While your doctor should be your go-to for medical advice, 180 Medical is committed to being a support for you by giving the best service possible while also providing you with the resources and education you need to feel fully informed and comfortable with this new process.

Give us a call today to experience the quality service and care that 180 Medical is ready to give you! You'll find a listening ear from a well-trained, compassionate specialist who can help you through the transition to self-cathing.
