It was a great event that was very well organized. It helped nearly 50 quadriplegics and paraplegics experience surfing again. The volunteers were very quick and efficient, and the equipment was awesome (surfboards with handles and padding, rolling beach chairs). There was a major radio station and ABC News covering the event, and they also had a couple of celebrities there as well including recording artist Jason Mraz and actor Jason Lewis.
There were various teams and our team had 5 surfers. There was one surfer in particular that was pretty amazing- his name was Hunter and couldn't have been older than 5 years old. He loved surfing and just had the biggest smile on his face when he was riding the waves in. Some of the surfers got the full surfing experience complete with wipe-outs! Everyone had the attitude of a champ. What a great series of events!
