180 Medical Supports Sprint for Spina Bifida

The 20th Annual Sprint for Spina Bifida took place at Mount Mary College on August 3, 2013 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Spina Bifida Wisconsin, SBWIS, raises funds to help families affected by Spina Bifida. 180 Medical is a proud supporter of SBWIS, and had a table on the sidelines of the sprint.

180 medical 2013 sprint for spina bifidaSpina Bifida is when the spine of the baby fails to close, creating an opening or a lesion on the spinal column. This can cause symptoms such as paralysis and neurogenic bladder. Surgery is typically done to close the spine immediately after birth, which reduces further damage.

The three types of Spina Bifida are:
  • Occulta
  • Meningocele
  • Myelomeningocele
