What Does 180 Medical’s Peer Support Team Offer?

Our Patient Advocates regularly visit children’s hospitals, rehabilitation centers, and other healthcare facilities across the country.

Alongside them, our in-house Peer Support Team, individuals living with spinal cord injuries themselves, offers consultations and support over the phone or video chats. They’re here to listen, answer your questions, and provide one-on-one guidance to those who are new to catheter use or navigating life after a recent diagnosis or injury.

Whether in person or through virtual support, 180 Medical is here for you during some of life’s most challenging transitions.

Our Peer Support Team Can Help:

  • Ease the transition from hospital to home
  • Provide confidence in using catheters
  • Offer real-life insights on adjusting to life after spinal cord injury
  • Find the right product for each individual’s needs
  • Reduce stress for our customers, families, and/or caregivers

When someone is new to using catheters, the wrong product or technique can lead to complications. That’s why having experienced, caring support from people who truly understand can make all the difference.

Meet Our Patient Advocates

Steve

Steve has been a C6 quadriplegic since a car accident in 1988. He knows firsthand how overwhelming life can feel after a new spinal cord injury or being told you need to use catheters for the first time.

As a Patient Advocate, he loves sharing his experience to help others see their lives aren’t over because of their spinal cord injury. “When someone is new to using catheters, they’ll have a lot of questions. Having someone who really knows what you’re going through is important,” he says.

Steve is passionate about playing quad rugby, and he loves being able to help others with disabilities get involved with adaptive sports too. Also, he shares helpful tips for navigating life with a spinal cord injury in his posts on the 180 Medical blog.

Brendan

When Brendan was born with spina bifida, his family received guidance and help. Today, he likes to “pay it forward” by offering compassionate care and support to other families and children with spina bifida. He is a Territory Sales Manager for 180 Medical and contributes posts on the 180 Medical blog about living an independent life with spina bifida.

Meet Our Peer Support Team

Daniel

Daniel has been with 180 Medical for over a year now, and he currently serves as both a Confirmation Specialist and Peer Support Team member. As someone living with a spinal cord injury himself, Daniel offers practical advice and encouragement to others who may be adjusting to catheter use or facing new challenges. Outside of work, he plays with the TIRR Texans Low-Point Wheelchair Rugby team (now two-time national champions as of 2025). His care, compassion, and dedication shine through in everything he does, both on and off the court.

Ryan

Ryan has been part of our company for over 17 years. After sustaining a spinal cord injury in high school due to an ATV accident, he brings years of personal experience and heartfelt insight to his role as both a Referral Specialist and a member of our Peer Support Team. Ryan is passionate about helping others navigate life after injury and encourages those he speaks with to stay hopeful and determined.

“Never let anyone tell you you cannot do something just because of your spinal cord injury,” he says. “It’s just a matter of figuring out how to do things in a new way. Never give up.”
