Introducing Amanda: 180 Medical Ostomy Specialist Spotlight

We love giving a shout-out to our stand-out, stellar employees. This month, we’re excited to feature Amanda, an Ostomy Client Specialist, in this month’s Employee Spotlight for 180 Medical. She’s been a part of the 180 Medical family for over 5 years now!

Amanda, tell us about your role as an Ostomy Client Specialist at 180 Medical.

As an Ostomy Client Specialists, I get to directly talk to and work with our customers living with a colostomy, ileostomy, or urostomy.

I get to help them with getting the right ostomy supplies and while helping them develop a stable, hygienic process for using their supplies. Ostomy Client Specialists at 180 Medical get to assist our customers with finding the ostomy products they need as well as navigating their health insurance coverage for ostomy supplies. Most importantly, we give support and care to help them recover a sense of normalcy after ostomy surgery.

How does 180 Medical help you succeed in your role as an Ostomy Client Specialist?

180 Medical offers extensive on-the-job training so we can acquire the knowledge we need to become a specialist. That means we learn all kinds of things, such as all the various types of ostomy products available, the various medical conditions leading to the need for ostomy surgery, and learning how health insurance covers ostomy supplies. It’s a really rewarding position!

What do you love most about working at 180 Medical?

I love working at 180 Medical because, at the end of the day, I go home knowing I may have made a positive impact on someone’s life – even in the smallest of ways.

Also, I love coming to work every day in a positive work environment. I get to work with motivated and hardworking people. It feels like a family here. I would encourage anyone looking for an encouraging atmosphere and a team structure to apply. So far, I’ve been with 180 Medical for 5 years, and I’ve had some wonderful opportunities for career growth over the years so far.

What’s life like for you outside of work?

I am originally from Pittsburgh. I grew up in Dallas and then moved to Oklahoma to attend the University of Oklahoma, where I graduated with a degree in Psychology. Since I have lived in some fanatic sports towns, I’m a huge sports fan. My favorite teams are the Pittsburgh Steelers, the OKC Thunder, and the OU Sooners.

What’s one of your favorite 180 Medical memories?

I’ll tell a story about a recent conversation with a new customer. She came to us after a poor experience with another ostomy supply company. Then she let me know she had terminal cancer. She told me how much she appreciated how kind and considerate 180 Medical has been. She emphasized several times that she was impressed with our customer service. Ultimately, she just wanted to let me know how much she appreciated being treated compassionately, especially at this difficult time in her life.  It was a touching reminder of why we do what we do daily!

Thank you, Amanda!

Introducing Amanda: 180 Medical Ostomy Specialist Spotlight
Jessica is the Sr. Marketing Specialist at 180 Medical, and she has been with the company for 15 years. She loves getting to be creative in her role and hearing from customers about the positive impact we've made on their lives.

Outside of work, you can find her hanging out with her husband and their dogs or browsing garden centers (where she will almost certainly buy another houseplant she doesn't really need).
