Today, we're featuring Kyle, one of our Territory Sales Representatives!
What are some of your normal duties as a Territory Sales Representative? What's an average day like?
Since we are out in the field interacting daily with nurses, physicians, and facilities, we're essentially the face of 180 Medical. The main part of my job is to create, maintain, and grow business within my territory by interacting with multiple urology accounts throughout my state. We work to gain referrals from these offices and facilities by nurturing relationships, providing the best service, and setting ourselves apart from other representatives out in the field today. We are fully trained with a wealth of knowledge, which we bring to all accounts, so that when/if an office has a need or a question, we're there for them.
Not only are the sales representatives fully trained and ready to help, we have a whole team of specialists at the company headquarters who are just as passionate about taking care of patients and going the extra mile. We get to interact on a daily basis and strive together to provide the best care for our patients.
I always get asked what are some great qualities of a sales rep, and I always say that you must be a driven self-starter and problem-solver, be excellent with your time management, have the heart of a teacher, be influential, and most importantly, have fun with your job.
What do you love most about your job?
The thing I love most about my job is that everyone at 180 Medical seems to be passionate about the work they do in providing excellent care to our patients. At large companies, you very rarely see this total team effort taking place, but at 180 Medical, “team” isn’t just something we say -- it’s our culture. This position is incredibly rewarding because you get the opportunity to interact with different people every day. We truly do have the best job in the world, and we get to work for a pretty amazing company that knows where it’s going. Our CEO Todd Brown does an excellent job of sharing his vision for the company, and his clarity makes you want to be a part of that vision because its real and purpose-driven.
As sales reps, it is our responsibility to do what it takes to make our business successful. The autonomy that comes with this position is fantastic. Our home office equips us with the tools to be successful and then it becomes up to us whether or not our business will take flight. I love the fact that our service is second to none in our industry. We really are the best at what we do, and I’ve seen this firsthand in my day to day work. It's always rewarding to hear from nurses how we helped make one of their patient’s life easier. Other companies just don’t put the same amount of effort and passion into serving others as we do here at 180 Medical.

What's one of your favorite stories of how you helped or interacted with a patient or facility (doctor, nurse, etc.)?
As a sales rep, you’ve always got to be prepared to meet your customers' needs. This means if you get a call from an office at 6 p.m. on Friday, and a patient is in need of something, you get to step up to the plate. I firmly believe you get opportunities to set yourself apart from others, and when an opportunity comes you better capitalize on it. I’ve had a handful of the accounts I call on make that call on a Friday asking for supplies to a patient who is in dire need.
I had this one gentleman who lived in an area that didn’t get UPS deliveries on a regular basis so he was going to have to wait 3 days to get his supplies. The bad news was he needed them now and literally couldn’t wait until Monday. I told the nurse I would be more than happy to take some supplies to him to hold him over for the weekend. She said, “Kyle, you know its 6 p.m. on a Friday, right?” I responded, “Just because our business day ends doesn’t mean that a patient's need for their supplies ends.”
I drove an hour to meet this gentleman and give him some supplies. He couldn’t believe someone would do something like that on such short notice. He obviously was very appreciative and gave me a firm handshake with a “Thank you, sir” tacked on to that. He jokingly said "I didn’t realize this type of customer service still existed," and I said, "Yes sir, it does."
What are some of your favorite things to do outside of work?
Growing up in the south three things go incredibly well together: family, football, and food. One of our favorite things to do as a family is to have our family and friends over for a Saturday cookout as we watch our favorite team play (our team is the Auburn Tigers, so last year we thankfully had some great moments to celebrate). There’s truly nothing better than the smell of grilling out a nice steak on a cool fall day while pulling for your team with your family and closest friends.
