What are some signs of an infected stoma?

Some common signs of an infected stoma may include:

  • Pus-like discharge from the stoma
  • Swelling
  • Increasing redness (“angry” color)
  • Rash or blisters around the stoma
  • Unusuasl color changes
  • Ongoing pain

If you think you may have a stoma infection or another concerning issue with your stoma, talk to your healthcare provider or ostomy nurse as soon as possible.
