Community Involvement at 180 Medical

180 Medical’s passion for turning lives around extends beyond our amazing customer base and into community involvement across the country.

When a chance arises to help others, we’re proud to say our employees are ready to jump on board. Whether it’s volunteering at our local food pantry, collecting relief items for aid after natural disasters, or fundraising for charitable organizations, 180 Medical is always ready to take part in helping. That’s because service is at the heart of everything we do. We believe that operating with values of integrity and compassion can truly help change the world.

Below are just a few of the ways that 180 Medical commits to community involvement.

180 Medical Scholarship Programs

These days, college isn’t easy to afford. We know that so many students of all ages have the potential to help make a positive difference in others’ lives, thanks to their experiences and their future career goals. However, we also understand that certain circumstances, such as living with a specific medical condition or caregiving, can create an additional financial burden on students. That’s why we now offer two separate scholarship opportunities.

In 2012, Todd Brown created the 180 Medical College Scholarship to assist full-time college students who live with specific medical conditions, including spinal cord injury, spina bifida, transverse myelitis, neurogenic bladder, or an ostomy.

In 2020, we also created a new scholarship program for caregivers: the 180 Medical Ron Howell Caregiver Scholarship. 180 Medical awards our caregiver scholarship annually to one full-time college student. Applicants must be an unpaid in-home caregiver for a loved one or family member with a chronic medical condition.

Wheelchair Basketball Tournament

We love bringing together a team of coworkers to get into wheelchairs and compete in a local wheelchair basketball tournament, which helps raise funds for adaptive sports and disabled athletes in our community. It’s always a blast for everyone to come out and cheer on all the teams!

Walk MS for the National MS Society

Multiple Sclerosis affects millions of people across the world, including many of our own customers. We love to raise awareness and take steps for a cure in the annual Walk MS event, which supports the National MS Society.

Spina Bifida Association Walk-N-Roll

We love participating in and sponsoring Walk-N-Rolls for the Spina Bifida Association. This great event helps raise funds for local community programs, advocacy, education, and research for spina bifida.

In 2021, we proudly sponsored the Spina Bifida Association Virtual Walk-N-Roll for Spina Bifida.

Feeding Our Communities

No one should have to go to bed hungry. Over the years, our employees have enjoyed volunteering their service and time at local food banks and soup kitchens. Plus, we never turn down a chance to participate in canned food drives.

In the past year, we made a donation to the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma, which provided over 21,000 meals for families in need. We’ve also made donations to Meals on Wheels America, The Homeless Alliance, Houston Food Bank, Second Harvest Food Bank, and the Mother Hubbard Cupboard.

Spinal Cord Injury Awareness Day

Every year, we honor Spinal Cord Injury Awareness Day at 180 Medical. This day gives our employees the opportunity to better understand some of the challenges that those living with spinal cord injuries face.

Additionally, this special day at 180 Medical always includes a fundraiser, which goes directly toward an organization of our employees’ choice that helps those affected by spinal cord injuries and paralyzation.

Last year, we were able to donate $2,195 to the Christopher and Dana Reeve Foundation.
