Almost 20 years ago now, I had my first procedure—as I call it, the Roto-Rooter procedure—for my enlarged prostate. It was fine for years and years and I didn't have a problem. And then a few years back, I started having a little bit more difficulty using the catheter.
Hi, my name is Joel, and I've been with 180 Medical for about two and a half years.
My doctor says, "Look, you know, let's put off the surgery as long as you can," because he says, "You really don't want surgery, you know, if you can avoid it." So I did for years. It got to the point where, okay, it's time. Unfortunately, it wasn't as successful as my first one was, so I had to go back to using catheters again.
At that time, the only thing you had were the red rubber catheters that you had to lubricate in order to use, which is really hard. Even if you lubricate it, it still gets a little rough going in and then pulling back out - and it still, you know, it gets to be an irritant.
I went online and found this company that had the soft, self-lubing ones. They are amazing because there's no friction whatsoever. They go in easily. They come out easily with absolutely no problem. And then I found that their distributor was local, and I've been with them ever since. And I've been extremely pleased.
I know it's probably a pretty daunting task for some people—you know, a little scary—but it's nothing to be afraid of. Especially those self-lubes (hydrophilic). They are so easy, so convenient. There's no problem whatsoever. There's no resistance. It's amazing how much easier and simpler it makes your life. It does not restrict you from having an active life whatsoever.
I would highly recommend 180 Medical to anybody that might need that service. They're well-organized, extremely friendly, very courteous, very helpful, and very informative. I've called a couple of times to ask questions, and they've been Johnny on the spot to take care of and answer all my questions.
They email you and check on you: "How are you doing? How's your supply?" And if you've used more than normal, say you use three a day but have been using five or six, they make up for it really quick: "Okay, well instead of sending it on the 12th, we're getting it out on the 6th," which is really, really nice because you don't have to stress about it.
I wanted someone that was reliable, that was cost effective, and I didn't have to constantly worry about. I have never, ever had any problem whatsoever with 180 Medical.
